CaliforniaGIS is built to promote the vast geospatial resources already available in the state.
CaliforniaGIS is not a membership based organization with accounts or dues.
CalifornaiGIS is built by volunteers that just like the industry and making GIS easier
Goals
- Create and maintain a free open library of organizations, groups, and firms that have a hand in geospatial information within California
- Build a platform to easily share notifications about networking events, workshops, training opportunities, summits, and conferences
- Show the broad use of geospatial information with a living interactive diagram that ties seemingly desperate groups together
Objectives
- Phase 1
- Create the basic web site and manually add references and links to organizations and firms that create, use, or advocate for geospatial information use
- Create a manually updated calendar of events and training
- Phase 2
- Build semi-automated tools for organizations and firms to update information about themselves
- Build an automated tools that lets organizations and firms submit events to the calendar, preferable by just being on a mailing list
